Arts & Crafts Activities **Contact the location to sign up ahead of time and confirm times
Acadia Parish and St. Landry Parish public libraries host summer time activities alternating crafts or movie showings with weekly story hour times. Check out our Summer Reading Program Guide for a complete list of library locations, times and dates for arts and crafts events.
Opelousas South City Park also hosts arts and crafts during the summer beginning in June, Monday-Friday from 8am - 12noon! (All classes are held hourly) You must register for a class. Contact the City of Opelousas Parks & Rec department for more information at 337-948-2562.
Prairie Acadian Cultural Center will host a Junior Ranger Summer Series program this summer on the first Friday of each month with free children's programs for 4th graders and up, at the Washington Recreational Center. Dates: June 7th, July 5th and August 2nd.

Opelousas Love Project hosts summer activities and programs at North & South City Parks in partnership with the City of Opelousas beginning the first week in June. Local Lakes and Water Features
Lakeview Park & Beach
Lakeview Park is located 3 miles North of Eunice, Louisiana on Hwy 13. This campground features a large selection of traditional as well as high tech amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. There are 95 full hook-up RV Sites and 8 cottages!
Jump in to their 1 acre swimming area with fresh well water pumped into it daily. The water is cold and refreshing. Relax on the sandy beach and enjoy live music and local events on the weekends, weather permitting. The beach is open for day passes to the public only on weekdays and Sundays. Cajun Campground

The swimming pool is open for campers and non/campers for the summer Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm, and Friday-Saturdays 10am - 7pm. Price for non-campers/cabin renters is $3 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, $5 on Fridays and Saturdays, and $10 on Saturday. Swimsuits are required for all swimmers.

Community Theatres and Movie Cinemas
Acadiana Cinemas (Opelousas and Eunice locations) will host summer movies for $2 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10am.

Gem Mining
If you've never been to CandyLand Cottage it's really a fun and interesting experience. The candy and ice cream retailer offers sweet and cool tasty treats in 2 locations in Rayne, and Scott La. CandyLand Cottage also offers a gem-mining experience (Scott location)!
Summer Activities for Teens
Anime Afternoons at the Acadia Parish Library-Crowley. APL hosts Anime Afternoons for teens 13-18. FMI contact the library at 337-788-1880. You must sign up for the movie, spots are limited. Check to community calendar for upcoming dates.
Teen Writing Workshops
Computer Workshop for Teens
The Armand J. Brinkhaus Community Library in Sunset hosts a monthly computer learning workshop for teens. Pick up tips and tricks and have fun while learning with scavenger hunts!
