La Folk Roots Summer Kids Camps offer daily music lessons for accordion, fiddle, guitar along with dance, French vocals, arts, folklife fun tours, games and indoor/outdoor recreation. The Camp closes with a lively performance showcase and dance with families and friends.
Who: Camps are geared towards youth ages 8-14 (entering 3rd grade - 9th grade/HS)
Teen Counselors in Training (CIT) High School sophomores-graduates ages 14-19 with musical instrument experience can apply as camp assistants. (Tuition is waived for CITs, application and interview will be required)

KIDS CAMP @ LE VIEUX VILLAGE, OPELOUSAS, LOUISIANA
My son experienced the Summer Kids Camp at Le Vieux Village and absolutely loved it. There were so many fun activities and lessons included that he really enjoyed. We enjoyed the end of camp performance as well and seeing how much they'd learned and having so much fun. His older sister who also has musical experience has the opportunity this year to attend as a teen Counselor in Training, which he is also looking forward to hopefully participating in a couple of years as well continuing the tradition.
We highly recommend this camp to any family of young music-enthusiasts that are willing and eager to learn more about the culture.
