Description
The Annual Tee Mamou-Iota Mardi Gras Folklife Festival is a one-day event that takes place on Duson Avenue in Iota. Enjoy the best of Cajun Prairie foods, live entertainment and Louisiana Folk Craft booths.
Local craft vendors set up shop along the street, selling mostly hand-made traditional crafts. Full lineup of Cajun and Zydeco musicians perform on stage, and there is also a small stage where jam sessions take place and young Cajun musicians showcase their talent.
Festivities begin at 9:00 am with a Catholic mass followed by live music, folk arts and crafts.
Children’s Mardi Gras and adult parade. 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. In the afternoon, the Mardi Gras “runners” come into town on their wagon after spending the day chasing chickens.
