The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve has announced the reopening of their regular programming now at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice.
On February 28, 2025, the center held an official reopening with an afternoon of programs!
Beginning this month, a free music program will be held every Thursday featuring local artists:
- March 13th featuring Babineaux Sisters Band
- March 20th Chère Elise (featuring Elise Riley and her father Steve Riley)
- March 28th Yvette Landry Band and Beau Thomas.
More Events this Month
March 24: Culture, Cuiture et Chansons: Une Journée en Français sus la Prairie (Culture, Cooking and Songs: A Day of French on the Prairie) from 10am-3pm. The program is free, but space is limited and participants must register in advance with Louisiana Folk Roots, which is sponsoring the program. Reserve your tickets online here.
March 26: The center is also a sponsor for a dance performance by Nathan Williams on 7-10 p.m. during Louisiana Folk Roots’ Dewey Balfa Cajun and Creole Heritage Week held at Lakeview Park and Beach three miles north of Eunice.
About the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
The Prairie Acadian Cultural Center tells the story of how Acadian exiles from Canada's Nova Scotia settled Louisiana's prairies who developed a distinctive cultural mix of Cajun, Creole, and cowboy. through ranger programs, exhibits, and films. The center features cooking and crafts demonstrations, local musicians, and dancing for all.

Open Hours
Beginning Thursday March 6, the Center will be open:
Thursdays 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
