Nothing says loving quite like something from the oven and around here you know how much we love good eating! When I learned that one of this month's observances was sourdough I knew just who to reach out to! The Cajun Mamas, of course.
From Church Point, Sarah O'Pry and Koa Melancon are the dynamic duo behind Cajun Mamas.
Sourdough September? Mais yeah, Cher!
Surely you have been seeing sourdough creations plastered all over your social media pages and for good reason! It’s good for you and there are so many different things you can make in the sourdough world. So if you’ve been curious about starting your sourdough journey, what a great time to get started: Sourdough September!
The beginning of making beautiful loaves and other creations starts with a good starter. You can make your own from scratch, get some from a friend who has some to share, or you can get our dehydrated starter with instructions on how to activate it at cajunmamas.com.
Check out their video on how to activate the Virgie Sourdough Starter here>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QC1Wbl2i9w&list=PLahSmhVPqfR_wioq_Z0GM7F81InWRy762
Getting your kids involved in the process is easy because they can help “feed” the starter daily to get it ready for baking. We joke and say this is the virtual pet of the times because we have to keep our starters “alive” by feeding it! Naming your starter is also a fun way to get the family involved in the bread making process.
Have we hooked you in to getting “started”? See how to make Sourdough bread here:
"Making sourdough bread is both fulfilling and delicious. If we can do it–you can, too! We assure you-once you “start” you won’t be able to stop!" ~ Sarah O’Pry & Koa Melancon aka “The Cajun Mamas”
