Louisiana Folk Roots Kid's Camp

Louisiana Cajun & Creole heritage music, folklife, culture, and nature-based recreation are the heart of daily activities in Lafayette and Opelousas camps. Folk Roots Summer Kids Camps offer daily music lessons for accordion, fiddle, guitar along with dance, French vocals, arts, folklife fun tours, games and indoor/outdoor recreation. 

The Camp closes with a performance showcase and dance with families and friends. Parents and family members are welcome to observe camp during the week then come celebrate with a lively performance. 



Who:
Camps are geared to ages 8-14.  All levels of young musicians are welcome
Siblings of regular non-member rate campers get a discount, too!

Teens with musical instrument experience OR prior La Folk Roots Kids Camp experience can apply to become CITs (teen counselors in training) Must be ages 14-19 to apply. Interview and application are required. 

When:

Opelousas Campus: June 23-27, 2025 (M-F) at Le Vieux Village

Eunice Campus: July 21-25, 2025 (M-F) at LSU-Eunice

What's Included:
Tuition includes a breakfast of biscuits and jam, daily lunch, snacks, and supplies.
