When we see kids in the community doing something that makes a positive impact, we like to recognize them for it! It's so refreshing to see positive movements that encourage change and motivation in our youth.
In this segment of MacaroniKID Kool Kids, we are recognizing not one, but many kids that helped support a great cause.

Port Barre Elementary students collected can tabs every week to donate to Cajun Woodstock for St. Jude Children's Research Center. Together they collected a total of 6.5 crawfish sacks full of can tabs!!
Why Pop Tabs?
The Pop Tab program is important because it provides additional funding support that can help make up for the donations that families cannot make. To house one family at Ronald McDonald House Charities© of the Coastal Empire during a child's stay at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital it costs between $100-$140 per night. Ronald McDonald House Charities typically receive between $0.40 to $0.50 per pound of pop tabs. This program brings in an average of $6,000 each year. The tabs can come from energy drinks, soup cans, or anything with a metallic tab.

There are many ways to get the can tabs to Ronald McDonald House Charities© and one of the easiest ways you can do that is by bringing them to Cajun Woodstock!
Cajun Woodstock is an annual festival held in Church Point to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children's Hospital. This year the festival will be held April 1st and 2nd at Church Point City Park. It's a great family-fun event with lots of activities, games and great food. All proceeds benefit St. Jude's. Cajun Woodstock organizers and supporters visit the Ronald McDonald House in Memphis, TN to deliver donations and items collected such as non perishable food items to fill their pantry, toys/goodies for the children and games for them to play. The can tabs collected are also delivered to support the Ronald McDonald House charities.
