Literacy Program for Students in Louisiana

By Courtney J., Macaroni Kid Publisher December 3, 2022

Need a push to help your child succeed in literacy and reading goals? The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is taking an active role to support school systems in order to meet the academic needs of their students. The LDOE believes all students, including students with disabilities, English learners, and students who persistently struggle, can achieve grade-level standards.

To effectively address and prevent unfinished learning, students must be provided with extra time to learn through equal-access tutoring. LDOE has launched a new literacy tutoring program called the Steve Carter Literacy Tutoring Program.

The program will provide eligible K-5 public school students an opportunity to receive additional support by providing $1,000 digital vouchers to be used to schedule online and in-person literacy tutoring with state-approved tutors.

If your Kindergarten thru 5th-grade student needs reading help, find out if they may be eligible for assistance by visiting louisianatutoringinitiative.com.
