January is National Blood Donation Month

Give blood and give the gift of life to someone!

By Courtney J, Macaroni KID Acadia-St. Landry publisher January 13, 2022

January was proclaimed as the National Blood Donation month over than 50 years ago by the President as a way to encourage voluntary blood donation. This is critical time for blood supplies as donors typically don't give frequently during the holidays and as cold/flu season is in full force, supplies run low.

Blood donation is something that touches me personally, because it saved my father's life more than once. After numerous heart surgeries and a long history of heart failure he underwent blood transfusions on many occasions.

You can make a difference for someone by registering to give blood at a local mobile blood drive. The LifeShare bus frequently hosts mobile blood donation sites for convenience.

Below is the mobile blood drive schedule and locations for the LifeShare Bus. Click on location for schedule to sign up for a spot and avoid wait times.
